Bullet-time software demo using 12 android smartphones
January 25, 2020
Update - October 21, 2026
This 2020 demo uses the older USB-based Android implementation and SlimRig-era setup. Current Camera Server uses Xangle Remote Camera: provision or update each Android phone over USB, then operate it on the same local Wi-Fi network as the computer. The three-second result below is a measurement from that original rig, not a current performance guarantee. Use the current Android setup instructions and Camera Server downloads.
What, it took only 3 seconds to get the full result? I was not expecting that! Here’s what happened…
We’ve been shooting with DSLRs forever, and most of them are USB-2. Now, with these USB-3 smartphones, the file transfer is so fast that we’re able to get all files, apply digital calibration, apply color grading and build the mp4 file within 3 seconds! Wahouuuu :::))
Here’s my demo. On this one, I’m taking 3 different shots. On the first picture, I’m simply showing you the exact moment where I trigger (using my usual wireless powerpoint presenter)
Xangle Camera Server can be downloaded from XangleCs.com
