XangleCS Video Support Features & Considerations

March 8, 2026

Based on information found in your emails, here is a summary of the video support features and important considerations for triggering cameras in video mode within Xangle Camera Server (XangleCS):Video Capture Capabilities
  • Multi-Camera Recording and Editing: The new version of XangleCS allows you to film with multiple cameras and use the sequence editor.
  • MP4 Capture: There is support for MP4 capture, which lets you set up multiple angles and then slow down or speed up each viewpoint. This method allows shooting at 120fps, which is not possible with HDMI or real-time capture.
  • Video Settings Control: For Canon camera models from the past six years, you can control the resolution and frames per second (FPS) when in video mode.
Important Operational Considerations
  • SD Card Requirement: You will need SD cards in all the cameras to capture video; it cannot be captured directly through USB on multiple cameras simultaneously.
  • Experimental Status: Video capture support is noted as "still very experimental and limited".
  • Camera Type: DSLRs are generally not the best choice for video capture, as they can overheat quickly, leading to stability issues.
  • Capture Duration: The capture duration setting is measured in milliseconds. You need to set a large enough value (e.g., 5000 for a 5-second capture).
  • Mode-Switching: While automatic mode-switching from photo to video on cameras connected to a Windows PC was planned, a user previously had to manually switch the cameras to video mode because the feature had not yet been included in a stable build.
File Management and Workflow
  • Direct Export: To have all the videos export to a single folder and avoid subfolders, you can use a backup folder and set it to receive all the input videos via the File management panel.
  • In-App Display: The Xangle library is capable of displaying video captures, which allows you to quickly view the captured videos from within the Xangle app.
  • External Video Processing: For integrating standalone video tools like Topaz Video AI, you should use an ffmpeg command line string, not HTML code, and the external application must be working correctly on its own before you integrate the command into Xangle.
