Supported cameras
Find the right cameras for your array
Xangle Camera Server connects DSLR and mirrorless cameras, action cameras, smartphones, Raspberry Pi cameras, and experimental USB webcams. Use this list to check the exact model, then follow the brand guide for setup and limitations.
Canon · Sony · GoPro · Android · iPhone
Compatibility is not a synchronization guarantee. Capture timing and available controls vary with the camera, mode, firmware, connection, power, and network. Test a complete capture and download with your own equipment before an event.
Canon
Canon is the most established camera family for Xangle multi-camera rigs. Windows and Raspberry Pi camera nodes support Canon USB capture. On Mac, direct USB supports one Canon camera; use Raspberry Pi camera nodes on the same network for a multi-camera Canon array.

Before choosing a body
Canon is our longest-used and most-tested camera family, but listed compatibility is not a promise that every feature works on every body. Test your firmware, lens, USB mode, cables, hubs, power, capture mode, and file download together.
Canon EOS R5 C is not supported. Video support is body-dependent. Check the camera manufacturer's power guidelines and warranty terms before using third-party batteries or couplers.
Sony
The current Sony adapter supports USB camera control on Windows and Mac, including photo capture, live view, settings, downloads, and body-dependent video. It is not available on Raspberry Pi camera nodes.
- Sony RX0 II / DSC-RX0M2 (photo only, video capture is not supported on this body, see Additional notes)
- Sony RX1R III / DSC-RX1RM3
- Sony Alpha 1 / ILCE-1, Alpha 1 II / ILCE-1M2, Alpha 6700 / ILCE-6700, Alpha 7C / ILCE-7C, Alpha 7C II / ILCE-7CM2, Alpha 7CR / ILCE-7CR, Alpha 7 IV / ILCE-7M4, Alpha 7 V / ILCE-7M5, Alpha 7R IV / ILCE-7RM4, Alpha 7R IV A / ILCE-7RM4A, Alpha 7R V / ILCE-7RM5, Alpha 7S III / ILCE-7SM3, Alpha 9 II / ILCE-9M2, Alpha 9 III / ILCE-9M3
- ZV-E1, ZV-E10 II / ZV-E10M2, MPC-2610, PXW-Z200, PXW-Z300, PXW-Z380
RX0 II is photo-only in Camera Server: recorded clips remain on the camera SD card and cannot be retrieved over USB. Older Sony bodies use a separate experimental Legacy Sony adapter, not the current model list above. Test the exact body before an event.
GoPro
- HERO11
- HERO12
- HERO13
Photo and video capture, live view, settings, and downloads are available where the model and firmware expose them. USB is preferred for event use. Wi-Fi support is experimental and must be tested on the actual capture network. Raspberry Pi capture needs its own hardware validation; do not assume desktop results apply to a node.
iPhone
Run Xangle Remote Camera on each iPhone and Camera Server on Windows or Mac. Connect over the same local Wi-Fi network for live view, photo, video, and Sync Frame capture. iOS 17 or later is required; keep the app open in the foreground.
- iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (3rd generation)
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max, 16e
- iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air
- Newer iPhones that ship after this list still work on iOS 17 or later; they appear under their hardware identifier until the model name is added.
Lenses, formats, exposure controls, and capture performance depend on the phone and mode. Sync Frame saves a video-derived JPEG; it is not native still capture or hardware genlock.
Android
Android phones running Android 8.0 or later connect through Xangle Remote Camera on the same local Wi-Fi network as Camera Server on Windows or Mac. Install the phone app over USB, then capture photos and videos over Wi-Fi.
There is no fixed model-by-model compatibility list: manual controls, lenses, formats, and live view depend on the phone, manufacturer, and selected mode. Test the exact devices instead of choosing a phone by Android version alone. Raspberry Pi hosting has not been validated for this path.
USB webcams - experimental
USB webcams and capture devices can provide photo and video capture with live view and basic camera controls. Webcam support is experimental, not a certified list of individual webcam models.
Use Windows as a starting point; Mac support is also experimental. Raspberry Pi / Linux camera-node sources exist but still need full hardware validation. Test the exact webcam, driver, resolution, frame rate, and USB bandwidth before relying on it at an event.
Raspberry Pi cameras / Arducam
MIPI CSI cameras connect through a Raspberry Pi camera node using Raspberry Pi's libcamera stack. Plan one CSI camera per node and test the exact sensor, Pi model, camera stack, and ribbon cable.
Official Raspberry Pi cameras
- OV5647 - Camera Module V1
- IMX219 - Camera Module V2
- IMX708 - Camera Module V3
- IMX477 - High Quality Camera
- IMX500 - Intelligent Camera
- IMX296 - Global Shutter Camera
Third-party sensors
- IMX290
- IMX327
- IMX378
- IMX519
- OV9281
The sensor list follows Raspberry Pi's libcamera implementation. Autofocus is only available on focus-capable sensors, such as IMX708; a recognized sensor does not guarantee every camera-module revision or control has been tested.
