Photogrammetry & 3D scan showcase - powered by XangleCS

Explore photogrammetry and 3D scanning projects captured with Xangle Camera Server. This showcase brings together studio demonstrations and work from our user community, with examples of how multi-camera photography supports the creation of digital people and other 3D assets.

Photogrammetry reconstructs shape from overlapping photographs. A multi-camera scanner records many viewpoints without moving a single camera around the subject, making it useful for full-body scans, head scans and repeatable facial-expression sessions. The photographs are the source material; reconstruction, cleanup and delivery depend on the processing tools and requirements of each project.

Real capture sessions and 3D scanning examples

The galleries below show different rigs, subjects and finished results. Use them to explore capture ideas and production approaches rather than treating any one example as a guaranteed level of detail or accuracy.

Multi-camera photogrammetry for people and performance

Full-body and head scanning

A surrounding camera array can capture a person from many directions during a short session. Camera height, lens choice and spacing determine what is visible, including difficult areas around the head, hands and clothing. A head-scanning rig has different framing and coverage needs from a full-body scanner, so plan the geometry around the asset you need.

Facial expressions and repeatable sessions

For expression libraries, consistency between captures matters as much as a single successful scan. Keep camera positions, focus and lighting stable, and identify each subject and expression clearly. XangleCS naming presets and capture values can help organize actor names, scan identifiers and FACS expression labels where supported by the selected license.

Lighting and capture timing

Sharp images and controlled light give reconstruction software better source material. Strobes and cross-polarized setups can be useful when the project requires them, but polarization depends on the physical lighting and filters, not a software-only reflection-removal feature. Test exposure and flash timing across the actual array.

What XangleCS handles during a scan

Xangle Camera Server manages the capture stage: adjusting supported camera settings, checking available live views, triggering photographs, transferring files and organizing datasets. Operators can inspect individual views for missing images, focus problems and exposure differences before the subject leaves.

Choose JPG or RAW+JPG when previews and processing are needed. RAW-only capture is available for source-file collection, but JPG previews are not extracted from RAW files by the current app. File size, camera count, USB or network bandwidth and storage speed all influence the time between capture and review.

For larger arrays, supported camera nodes can distribute connections while keeping operation in one interface. Exact camera support, controls and node options depend on the model, platform and license.

From photographs to a usable 3D asset

After capture, reconstruction tools align photographs and build geometry and textures. A production asset may still need masking, cleanup, retopology, texture work and quality checks before use in games, visual effects or character production. The capture software does not make those requirements disappear.

Visual realism is also different from measured accuracy. Scale, calibration, camera coverage and validation determine whether a scan meets a dimensional requirement. Do not assume a result is suitable for precision or medical use simply because it looks detailed.
