Progressive System Degradation

Progressive System Degradation

  1. Slow dashboard Dashboard can become very unresponsive when displaying the Frames module. To fix this, try to use the thumbnails instead of original images (within the Frames module configuration), or use the module from a separate web page. If your dashboard is still slow after removing the Frames, try removing other modules
  2. System becomes slow over a long shooting day Depending on the speed of your computer and number of cameras used, Xangle is going to degrade due to the large number of datasets / images. Try to move the content of /output to a different location to speed things up. You can always access another location by using the “f” key from the library.
  3. SSD Write Bottleneck Causing Random Processing Slowdowns In rare cases, dataset processing speeds in XangleCS may become random, inconsistent, and progressively worse over time; although this can appear to be a software issue, the root cause may be an SSD that is becoming unstable during write operations. Typical symptoms include unpredictable processing performance, gradual degradation, 100% disk activity with very low throughput, and no obvious heavy process visible in Task Manager. A quick way to determine whether the problem comes from the SSD (and not XangleCS) is to duplicate a large file (5GB or more) onto the same drive; if the copy speed is abnormally slow or disk activity remains saturated even after the copy completes, the SSD is likely the bottleneck. Possible causes include corrupted write cache or TRIM data, firmware instability, NAND wear or wear-leveling issues, or storage driver corruption. Recommended actions are to run the SSD manufacturer’s diagnostics (including SMART checks and firmware updates), ensure at least 15–20% free space on the drive, update NVMe/storage drivers, perform a clean Windows reinstall if system instability appears, and replace the SSD if the issue persists.
