Bullet-time productions

Explore bullet-time productions created by the Xangle team and filmmakers, studios and multi-camera operators using Xangle Camera Server. These examples bring together music videos, advertising, television and creative shoots, showing how different camera layouts, lighting choices and capture techniques shape the finished effect.

Bullet-time photography records a subject from several viewpoints. Playing those images in camera order creates a moving viewpoint around a frozen moment; introducing an interval between exposures lets the action unfold as the viewpoint moves. A short arc, a full circle and a linear array each produce a different visual language.

Multi-camera capture for film, music videos and advertising

The productions below show why the camera array is only part of the shot. Choreography, framing, exposure, lighting and the final edit all contribute to a convincing time-slice sequence. A jump, a dance move or a light-painting exposure can become the centre of a shot that would be difficult to create with a single moving camera.

XangleCS provides the capture and review tools behind these kinds of setups. Operators can manage supported camera settings, number the array, trigger a capture and collect the photographs into organized datasets. This helps the crew repeat a setup and inspect the result while the subject and lighting are still in place.

What matters on a bullet-time production

Camera layout and synchronization

Camera spacing determines how the viewpoint moves around the subject. Consistent framing and enough overlap make alignment easier, while lens choice and distance influence perspective. XangleCS can trigger supported cameras over USB without separate camera trigger cables, but exposure synchronization still depends on the camera model, capture mode, warmup and complete rig. Test the intended action and lighting before the shoot.

Previews and reusable calibration

Review camera views to catch missed frames, soft focus, exposure differences and framing problems before moving to the next setup. A calibration recipe can help stabilize subsequent captures while the array stays unchanged. Moving or re-aiming a camera means checking the setup and recalibrating. Preview and processing times depend on camera count, file size, transfer speed and computer performance.

Source files for post-production

Choose JPG or RAW+JPG when the session needs image previews and processing; RAW-only capture is available when only source files are required. Organized file and folder names help the post-production team identify takes and camera order. RAW files remain source material for compatible grading and compositing tools; the current app does not extract JPG previews from RAW files.

Equipment matched to the shot

Supported camera families include Canon, Sony, GoPro, phones and Raspberry Pi cameras, with model, platform and connection limits. Compatibility does not mean every body offers the same timing or controls. Validate the complete array rather than assuming that camera count alone determines quality.
